Germaine Franco conducting at the Music Masquerade Gala

On October 12, 2019 Germaine Franco accepted the Mancini Award in recognition of “her professional and civic accomplishments that emulate, advocate and promote music education”. She accepted this award alongside fellow award recipients, Supervisor Hilda L. Solis who accepted the President’s Award and Ron Gustafson who accepted the Local Business Leader Award.

The evening featured music performed by Germaine in collaboration with the Neighborhood Music School (NMS) students and teachers. Germaine performed a selection of suites from Paramount Pictures Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Proud Corazón from Disney-Pixar’s Coco and selections from her score to the independent feature film Margarita.

Germaine would like to thank the Neighborhood Music Schools excellent students for performing alongside her and her band. Germaine’s ensemble featured performances from some of her longtime collaborators Frederico Ramos and Giovanna Noa.

Accessible arts education for all is an important social endeavor that Germaine has spent her entire career supporting.
