  • Germaine Franco’s body of work includes scoring feature films, documentaries, television, video games, and interactive media
  • Franco is the first Latina and woman of color to receive a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for her work on Encanto 
  • Franco is the sixth woman and first woman of color to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score
  • Franco is the first female composer to score a Disney Animated Feature
  • Franco is the only female composer to hold two Annie Awards for Best Music in a Feature (Coco and Encanto)
  • Her work for Encanto includes an SCL Award for Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film, a Billboard Music Award, as well as a Golden Globe nomination and a World Soundtrack Awards nomination for Film Composer of the Year in 2022
  • In 2019, Franco was the only woman and woman of color to score two of the 100 top-grossing films with Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Little, across the entire industry
  • Franco is an advocate for arts education for individuals of all ages. She is a board member of the Neighborhood Music School in Boyle Heights
  • Franco gives frequent lectures and workshops worldwide at various corporations, universities, public and private schools, and cultural events. 
  • She was a guest artist at Juilliard’s Film Music Lecture Series
  • She has presented at Brown University, Rice University, USC, Columbia University, Emerson College, UCLA, Viborg Visuals in Denmark, Education Through Music Los Angeles among others.
  • Franco is a Sundance Music and Sound Design Fellow and Mentor and Women in Film Fellow
  • Additional credits include The Mother, Work It, The Sleepover, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Little, Tag, The Casagrandes, and Curious George
  • Germaine’s work has been performed in concert halls around the world, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall with The Los Angeles Master Chorale, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, The San Francisco Symphony, The Puerto Rico Symphony, The National Symphony Orchestra, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Houston Symphony, The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, The Taipei Symphony Orchestra.
