Germaine Franco made her Royal Albert Hall debut on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra premiered a new Encanto Score Suite as part of its annual Film Music Gala.
The suite featured excerpts from Franco’s Grammy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated original score for Disney’s Encanto, marking the debut performance of the suite by the RPO. Bringing the vibrant musical world of Encanto to one of the world’s most iconic concert stages, alongside a sweeping program of beloved scores from some of the greatest action and adventure films in cinema history.
Conductor Stephen Bell led both performances, with BBC broadcaster Petroc Trelawny presenting. The program spanned a wide variety of classic film scores, from the thrills of Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones, and Jurassic Park; the fantasy and wonder of Star Wars, Harry Potter, and E.T.; and the grand heroic landscapes of Gladiator, The Lord of the Rings, and Avatar, among others.
About the Program
The RPO Film Music Gala is the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual flagship film music event at Royal Albert Hall. The 2026 edition, “Action and Adventure”, featured world-class film scores conducted by Stephen Bell, with Germaine Franco’s Encanto Suite receiving its RPO world premiere as part of the evening. The concert was performed twice, a matinee at 3:00 PM and an evening performance at 7:30 PM, to a full house at one of the world’s most celebrated concert venues.
